“IF WE DID ALL THE THINGS WE ARE CAPABLE OF, WE WOULD LITERALLY ASTOUND OURSELVES.” -THOMAS EDISON-
Why are we afraid to take risks? Why don’t we give ourselves enough credit? Why don’t we do the things we are capable of? Did you know that it is said that the difference between being good and being great is just that little extra effort. Look at the masses. You will see a common thread of mediocrity and complacency. Would you say I was crazy if I told you that there was less competition where the truly successful play? That the masses have the fiercest competition for mediocre positions or careers? Ponder this for a moment….interesting, huh? People don’t want to take risks. We are scared to be great and do everything we are capable of. Anais Nin said, “life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” Now is the time to be courageous. The time to act is always NOW. Let’s live a life of influence! Let’s transform our thinking. Let’s be revolutionary in thought and deed. We can and will astound ourselves. You. Me. We can take the extra step everyday. We can smile at someone. We can open a door. We can choose not to speak when it may be offensive or cutting or slashing towards someone else. We can pick up the phone. We can volunteer. We can edify with our words. We can read another chapter. And we can run an extra mile. Some may only be able to walk. Others, crawl….But WE CAN! We will…..

People work for what? Why do they grind it out day in and day out? For integrity, character, and principles? But I ask why? We acquire things and attain them. Why? We live and we die for what? Is it to leave a legacy? But I ask again why leave a legacy if you don’t believe in an eternity to watch your legacy unfold. Why worry about the future of your children and grand children when you don’t believe in life after death? When you die it won’t matter anymore. You’ll be dead. I believe everyone has a void and an innate belief in the eternal. This void can only be filled by the Supreme Being, God. When you believe that God is a relational being who cares about everyone and has his Divine Hand in everything (but only works through the parameters of the free will he’s imparted to us), we can then turn the page. Now we can believe in destiny and hope through faith. As faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. We don’t hope in things we see or the things we are sure of. If this was so, then it wouldn’t be called hope. When you say, “I hope I’ll see this or that again.” There is no surety in it. Again, if there was it wouldn’t be hope. Now because of this destiny and hope we can find our purpose through our divine call that we’re destined to undertake because we now believe in the Will of God. We now look up at the mysterious lights in the night sky and have a profound sense of freedom and love, knowing that we will live. And not just live here, but live on forever in eternity. We were created by God and we will go back to him. We will then have no reason to feel threatened or fearful. Know this, hope sustains us, but fear destroys us.
